I have a confession to make: “breakfast for dinner” is one of my all-time favourite meals, and it generally appears on our dinner table a few times every month.
So it goes without saying that I am a major admirer of McDonald’s all-day breakfast service.
Sure, a quarter-pounder with cheese is good, but it can’t compete with a sausage McMuffin, especially as a late-night snack.
Here’s all you need to know about McDonald’s current all-day breakfast scenario so you can sort your day properly.
So…Does McDonald’s Serve Breakfast All Day Long?
Not anymore. (Cry)
The had to scrap it back in 2020 when the pandemic hit, which sucks because nothing beats a hash brown and Egg McMuffin at 10pm.
What Time Does Breakfast End and Lunch Begin?
10:30 a.m.
That is generally the time at which most outlets will stop serving breakfast. A couple of locations do usually still have plenty of breakfast items up until 10:45, but they officially stop making breakfast at 10:30.
Will McD’s Ever Bring All-Day Breakfast Back?
Maybe?
Most McDonald’s locations did serve breakfast all-day up until the pandemic hit. Then it just became too expensive to serve breakfast items all day when they were losing workers and having trouble with moving the breakfast items.
Are There Any “Secret” Breakfast Menu Items?
Yes.
There are actually three McDonald’s secret menu items that deserve the spotlight:
1. Hash Browns McMuffin
Order an Egg McMuffin, or any breakfast sandwich, and add a hash brown(s) to the middle.
Fried potato heaven awaits.
2. McChicken and Waffles
To get this you start by ordering a McGriddle, minus the eggs, and substitute with crispy chicken instead of sausage or bacon.
Then throw on a little syrup for some sweetness if you like that sort of thing.
3. Portuguese Sausage McMuffin
This one is only for the McDonald’s locations in Hawaii, where you’ll find the “spicy Portuguese sausage”.
So when in Hawaii, order the Sausage McMuffin but sub in the spicy Portuguese sausage for real spicy surprise.
What Are the Best Values on the Breakfast Menu?
If you’re pinching pennies, here are a few of the best breakfast value meals at McDonalds.
1. Big Breakfast w/ Muffin ($5.89) – For under $6, you get scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, and a scrumptious English muffin.
2. Big Breakfast w/ Muffin and Hotcakes ($7.99) – Same meal as above but toss in 3 delicious pancakes for only $2 more.
3. Sausage Egg Biscuit Meal ($6.79) – With this one you get a small cup of coffee, hash browns, and a tasty sausage & egg biscuit sandwich (It’s very much worth mentioning that their coffee is VERY good and far more affordable than Starbucks or Peets).
