All LG’s 86″ LEDs share the same reflective coating which differs from the smaller sizes that rtings reviews. Although they cut down on the amount of light and diffuse it well, single points of light behind the TV are diffused in a star pattern.
Although there’s no rainbow effect effect like high end Sony and Samsung QLEDs with XWide viewing angle layers, nor mirror gloss like OLEDs, this star effect is distracting in it’s own right.
Worth a trip up to Costco to see which type annoys you the least. Pay attention to dark transitions in the demo material, and look for the overhead lights.
