Your Prime membership can get you a free night at the movies — tickets and snacks.
It’s called Prime Premiere, and most members have no idea it exists. Here’s how it works.
The short version
Prime Premiere is a free perk built into Amazon Prime. You can reserve up to 2 movie tickets (you + a guest) to a special screening, and each ticket comes with a free small popcorn and a drink — about $10–$12 of snacks per person. No charge beyond your Prime membership. The catch: screenings are usually one night only in select cities, and they fill up — so you reserve about a week ahead.

Hi everyone, Hanna here. Every now and then I find a Prime perk that makes me say “wait, that’s free?” — and this is one of them. If you’ve got Prime, you may be able to take yourself (and a friend) to the movies, popcorn and all, without spending a dime. Let me show you exactly how.
What you actually get
- Up to 2 free tickets to a Prime Premiere screening — one for you, one for a guest. Your guest doesn’t need Prime.
- Free snacks with every ticket — a small popcorn and a small soda or water, around $10–$12 of concessions per person.
- A real theater experience, often an early or special screening, for the price of nothing extra.
How to claim your tickets (a couple of minutes)
- Go to the Prime Premiere page and sign in with the Amazon account that has your Prime.
- Choose “Find Screenings” and pop in your ZIP code to see what’s playing near you.
- Reserve your seats — you’ll get a redemption code for the tickets and the snack vouchers.
- Get to the theater early on show night (check-in usually starts around 6:15 p.m.; be checked in by about 7). Seats are first-come, first-served.
The honest catch
I always give you the real story: Prime Premiere isn’t everywhere yet. Screenings tend to be one night only and are offered in select cities and bigger metro areas, so you might not have one nearby today. Reservations also open about a week ahead and can sell out. My advice: check your ZIP code every couple of weeks, because new screenings get added — and if you grab tickets you can’t use, return them on the Prime Premiere page so someone else gets a night out.
Frequently asked questions
Is Amazon Prime Premiere really free?
Yes. Prime Premiere is included with your Amazon Prime membership at no extra charge. You can reserve up to two tickets to a special screening, and each ticket comes with a free small popcorn and a small drink. The only cost is having an active Prime membership.
How many movie tickets can I get with Prime Premiere?
Up to two tickets per Prime account, which is you plus one guest. Your guest does not need to be a Prime member, so you can bring a friend, your spouse, or a neighbor.
Do I get free snacks too?
Yes. Each ticket includes a voucher for a small popcorn and a small soda or water, which is roughly $10 to $12 of free concessions per person. You redeem the snack vouchers at the theater along with your ticket.
How do I reserve Prime Premiere tickets?
Go to the Prime Premiere page, sign in with your Prime account, choose Find Screenings, and enter your ZIP code. Pick an available showing and you’ll get a redemption code for your tickets and snack vouchers. Reservations usually open about a week before each screening.
Is Prime Premiere available everywhere?
Not yet. Screenings are typically one night only and are offered in select cities and major metro areas, so there may not be a participating theater near you. It’s worth checking your ZIP code every so often, because new screenings are added over time.
What time do I need to arrive?
Plan to arrive early. Check-in usually begins around 6:15 p.m. and you generally need to be checked in by about 7 p.m. on the night of the show. Seats are first-come, first-served, and latecomers may not be admitted.
What if I can’t use my tickets?
If your plans change, you can return unclaimed tickets on the Prime Premiere page so someone else can grab them. It’s a nice thing to do, since screenings often sell out.
