The big one: LEGO 72306 PlayStation is real
LEGO and Sony revealed the 72306 PlayStation during Sony's State of Play stream. It is a near 1:1 replica of the original 1994 console, 1,911 pieces, rated 18+, priced at $179.99. Open the disc cover and there are two mini dioramas inside, one for Gran Turismo and one for Ape Escape.
There is one confusing detail on the date. The press release Brickset published says it is available at LEGO.com from October 1. The LEGO.com coming soon page currently shows October 4. Either way it is a launch in the first week of October, and we will flag it the day it goes live.
Quick math from the official numbers: $179.99 for 1,911 pieces works out to about 9.4 cents per piece. Compare that to the other October giant, the 75457 Executor Super Star Destroyer at $799.99 for 6,130 pieces, about 13 cents per piece. As display sets go, the PlayStation is priced fairly for what it is.
Harry Potter HBO series sets are coming
During the Back to Hogwarts showcase, LEGO announced that sets based on the new Harry Potter HBO Max series are on the way, as reported by Brickset and The Brick Fan. The teaser showed new minifigures of Harry, Ron and Hermione modeled on the new cast, Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton's costars. No set numbers, prices or dates were given, so treat everything beyond the announcement itself as unknown for now.
This lands while the current Harry Potter line is peaking. The $449.99 Ministry of Magic Collectors' Edition 76476 with 3,491 pieces is available now on LEGO.com, and the Back to Hogwarts promotions run until September 6 per The Brick Fan.
What is launching October 1 to 4

Sales running right now
The surprise of the week is how fast brand new sets are getting discounted. Walmart's Bricktember has the LEGO Icons Mayor Manor 11383 at $98.00, a $21.99 saving off the $119.99 MSRP, and the set only released this week. Walmart also has the new 2026 Advent Calendars on sale, roughly $10 off each per The Brick Fan, before the holiday season even starts.
LEGO's own shop has a sale too. The Brick Fan counts 95 items at 20% to 40% off across multiple themes. And if you are buying from LEGO.com anyway, wait for Wednesday, September 9: LEGO Insiders Member Days gives 2x points for one day on DUPLO, Friends, Classic, Creator 3in1 and other selected themes, per Jay's Brick Blog.
Rumor corner, labeled as rumors
None of these are official. Brick Fanatics reports a rumor that LEGO Icons will release a 6,000-piece set in 2026, with no name attached yet. Brick Fanatics also reports a rumored 2027 Harry Potter set tied to the new HBO series, and a Speed Champions 2027 shakeup with the Lamborghini Revuelto out and the Fenomeno in. Treat all three as talk until LEGO.com says otherwise.

Our take: do not pay full price on anything September just launched except the true exclusives. Walmart cut Mayor Manor by $21.99 within two days, advent calendars are already discounted, and Black Friday is 84 days away. Buy the PlayStation and Wallace and Gromit at launch only if you love them, since LEGO.com launch sets rarely need to be chased on day one when your goal is price. Skip preordering the Mario 2027 wave, it does not arrive until January 1, 2027.
