DEET feels sticky on skin; picaridin is closer to a hand lotion. DEET smells like DEET; picaridin is nearly odorless. For my own porch and the kids running around, I reach for 20% picaridin first. How long does picaridin last on skin?

If a listing has fewer than 500 reviews, a price that’s 60% under everyone else, and a brand name that looks like a random acronym, it’s a third-party seller making a quick run on a trending category. The ‘natural’ niche is the worst offender — there’s no FDA rule against calling a spray ‘natural,’ so the listing photo can look identical to the trusted brand but what’s in the bottle could be anything. Two checks before you buy: the active ingredient is named on the front of the bottle, and the brand is one of the names above on the cap.
