I've been hunting Prime Day deals since the very first one back in 2015, and this year's is a little different: Amazon moved the whole thing up to June 23–26 instead of the usual mid-July. Here's the thing nobody tells you: a lot of the best deals don't wait for the official start date. Amazon and the big brands quietly drop early Prime Day deals weeks ahead, and some of them are already as low as they'll go on the 23rd. If June feels early to you, you're right. Prime Day is usually held in July — the last time it ran in June was back in 2021. Amazon moved it up this year to get ahead of a crowded summer: the FIFA World Cup runs mid-June into July, and July 4th is America's big 250th-anniversary weekend. Amazon decided the week of June 22 was the cleanest window.
Is Prime Day 2026 two days or four days?
Four days. Amazon expanded Prime Day from the old two-day format to four days in 2025, and they've kept the longer event for 2026. More time to shop — but the very best doorbuster and Lightning Deals still tend to land on day one (June 23) and sell out fast, so don't assume you can wait until Friday.

After a decade of these sales, I can tell you Prime Day is fantastic for some things and a waste of time for others. Here's where the real savings are:
🔊 Amazon devices
Echo, Fire TV Stick, Kindle, Ring, Blink, eero. This is the single best category — Amazon discounts its own gear deeper on Prime Day than almost any other time of year, often the lowest price you'll see until Black Friday.
🧹 Robot & cordless vacuums
Brands like Shark, iRobot, eufy and Dreame run their biggest cuts of the year. If you don't have pets, a mid-priced robot vac does almost everything the $500 ones do.
🍳 Kitchen gadgets
Air fryers, coffee makers, Instant Pots, blenders and stand mixers. Small countertop appliances see some of the deepest, most reliable Prime Day markdowns.
🏠 Smart home
Video doorbells, security cameras, smart plugs, thermostats and lighting. Often bundled at a discount — a good time to start (or finish) a setup.
🧱 Lego & toys
Prime Day is one of the best Lego windows of the year, and a smart time to quietly start on holiday gifts before the fall rush.
🛏️ Mattresses & bedding
Up to ~40% off select mattresses, toppers and sheet sets. If your mattress is 8+ years old, it's worth a look (though Memorial Day and Labor Day are strong too).
💊 Beauty & wellness
Skincare, haircare, electric toothbrushes and vitamins. Great for stocking up on the everyday things you'd buy anyway.
🧻 Household essentials
Paper goods, laundry, cleaning supplies and Subscribe & Save staples — boring, but the savings on stuff you'll use regardless really add up.
What to skip on Prime Day (wait for Black Friday)
Not everything is cheapest in June. These are the categories where I'd hold off:

Prime Day rarely has the deepest cuts on big-name TVs — wait for Black Friday.
⏳ Large appliances
Fridges, washers and dryers are more competitive in November.
⏳ High-end laptops & consoles
Better discounts and bundles show up around Black Friday.

Cold-weather gear goes lower later in the year.

Amazon runs three big sales a year now, and they're good for different things. Here's the cheat sheet:

Is Prime Day 2026 worth it?
Honestly? Yes — *if* you go in with a list. Prime Day is genuinely the best price of the year on Amazon devices, smart-home gear, robot vacuums and a lot of kitchen and home items. If any of those are on your radar, it's absolutely worth shopping.
Where people get burned is buying things they didn't need just because there's a red SALE tag. Not every "deal" is a real low — some prices get quietly nudged up beforehand. My advice: make a wishlist now, jot down what you'd happily pay, and only buy when the Prime Day price actually beats it. Do you need Amazon Prime to shop Prime Day?
Yes — the headline Prime Day deals are members-only. Many shoppers use both — grab Amazon gear now and save the big-ticket electronics for November.
What is the Amazon Resale Prime Day deal?
Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) sells inspected open-box and used items at a discount. Around Prime Day, Amazon adds an extra discount — up to about 20% off — on select Resale items, applied automatically at checkout with no code needed. Condition is noted on each product page, and it's a good way to save on top of an already-reduced price.
How long does Prime Day 2026 last?
Four days — from Tuesday, June 23 through Friday, June 26, 2026. That's longer than the old two-day format, but individual Lightning Deals are time-limited (usually a few hours, or until they sell out), so the deepest deals don't last the whole event.
Will there be another Prime Day in 2026 (Prime Big Deal Days)?
Almost certainly. In addition to June's Prime Day, Amazon usually holds a second members-only sale — Prime Big Deal Days — in October to kick off holiday shopping. Amazon hasn't confirmed the October 2026 dates yet; I'll post them here as soon as they're announced.
